Stay Glo'd Up This Summer!

I am really loving the makeup trends right now. We are starting to embrace more of a natural look and being all about dewy, glowy skin.

So many women are constantly on the search for the best highlighter so their glow can be poppin'. I myself, am a sucker for a good highlight but there are other things you can do to 'glo up' this summer!

1. Skincare is EVERYTHING

When you think about it, your face is your canvas, It's important to have a good skincare routine so that you 'canvas' can be as clean as possible.

If your skin isn't healthy, then your makeup isn't going to look glowy. It's important to wash your face morning and night and to moisturize! I love doing masks weekly and taking extra time to make sure that I take care of my face.

Here are some products that I love:

These masks from Sephora are AMAZING! They leave my skin feeling super hydrated and soft and they're only $6!

2. Drink your water!

As much as I love coffee, I am working on kicking it to the curb (or at least stop drinking it so frequently). Coffee dehydrates your skin and this isn't good for those of us that live for dewy, glowy looks.

I try to drink a gallon of water a day. Water is so amazing for flushing the impurities out of your body.

If I drink juice, I keep it to cold-pressed juices but water is mostly my beverage of choice.

3. You are what you eat

Believe it or not, the way that you eat reflects on your skin! If you eat a lot of processed, fried, dairy-filled foods, then your skin can end up looking dull and your face can get bloated.

Eating foods like almonds, avocados, fresh fruit and vegetables will keep your skin glowing and healthy!

4. Get some sleep!

I know that everyone has goals and dreams and may want to stay up all night working towards them but getting sleep is extremely important.

I make sure to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night no matter how goal-driven I am. Getting proper rest is pretty much the 'fountain of youth'.

It is also important that you wash your sheets regularly because sleeping on a dirty pillowcase can lead to breakouts.

5. Find a bomb highlight

Now that your skin is healthy, it's time to make it pop with a bomb highlight!

It is sometimes hard for brown girls to find the right highlight that will make their complexion glow and not look ashy.

Here are highlighters that I found that compliment every skin tone:
