Happy Valentine's Day To All My Single Ladies!
To all my ladies in the place with style and grace...Happy Valentine's Day!
In honor of St. Valentine, women will be showered with love and gifts from bae today. I honestly like Valentine’s Day. It’s a cute and fun holiday that I always celebrated, growing up my mom would give me a gift every year. I would also exchange gifts with my friends and classmates. Of course, now that we are all grown our expectations have changed and this holiday is more for the lovers.
But single ladies, don't trip! There are plenty ways to treat yourself and on a regular basis, not just once a year! The freedom and flexibility that comes with being single can be super dope. And if your goal is to be married and have kids one day, remember you will never get this time back. This season in your life is significant, spend it caring for yourself, learning yourself and having fun!
Here are some of my favorite single lady self care tips and practices.
1. Buy yourself flowers
I purchase flowers about every other week. I love walking by flowers in my apartment, it makes me smile and adds a pop of color to the room. If you also love flowers, you do not have to wait until you have a boyfriend to receive them, buy them for yourself. My grocery store sells beautiful bouquets ranging from $4-$12, you can also look into some local florists. It’s an inexpensive way to treat yourself and decorate your home.
2. Dinner and a movie
Just because you are single, does not mean you have to miss out on the latest box office hit or you can’t try that new Indian restaurant everyone has been raving about. If you want to avoid the date night crowd, go see a matinee or try the restaurant on a weekday. You deserve to be wined and dined and there is a rewarding feeling that comes with knowing you work hard enough to be able to do it for yourself.
3. Do something spontaneous
Enjoy the freedom of not having to check in with anybody and go on a random weekend trip or treat yourself to a nice gift. There may be a day in your future when you have to run purchases of a particular dollar amount by your life partner, so for now, check in with your mirror and swipe your card!
4. Join a gym or try a new work out class
Nothing makes me feel better or more accomplished than getting snatched! Our bodies are our temples and we are responsible for taking care of it. Since the summer I dropped about 15 lbs. While single, take this time to really focus on yourself. Develop healthy habits that help you look and feel your best. It will become a lifestyle that will follow you even once you are in a relationship.
5. Just chill!
As far as Valentine's Day, take it easy. It's just 24 hours. If you don't have plans, relax and do whatever makes you happy. Watch a episode of your favorite show, start a new book, cook something new and enjoy it like any other day!
Happy Valentine's Day to all the lovers and the friends! Share your plans for the day or how you self care in the comments!
